Victorian Trade Union Choir 35th anniversary concert
In 1990 I founded the Victorian Trade Union Choir. This year the choir turns 35 and is planning a celebration on November 14th at the Victorian Trades Hall in Carlton. Guest performers include the Tarab Ensemble - and me. ;-) All welcome.

La La La French Choir Christmas Concert December 10th
On Wednesday June 10th I will be singing with Melbourne-based French choir La La La Chorale in their annual Christmas concert in Fairfield. More information soon.

Writing Compelling True Stories - Sydney workshop
On Saturday 21st of February I will be running an in person one-day non fiction writing workshop for Writing NSW: ‘Writing Compelling True Stories’. More details soon.

Creative Non Fiction online course
My next six week online Creative Non Fiction course is now open for enrolments. It will run from February 24th to March 31st, Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 pm. Course contents include: How to distinguish the ‘story’ you want to tell from the ‘situation’ you want to describe in your creative non fiction writing; How to create vivid characters in non fiction writing; How to develop the right ‘voice’ for your story. All welcome.

Advanced Creative Non Fiction online course
My next six week online Advanced Creative Non Fiction course is now open for enrolments. It will run from May 5th to June 9th, Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 pm. Course contents include: How to make your personal essays resonate with readers; Working with rhythm and texture; Writing authentic dialogue; Structuring your writing projects. All welcome.

Writing for Wellbeing: Darwin workshops

Menopause is not a use-by date
On the evening of Thursday 4th September I will be a guest panellist for the ‘Menopause is not a use-by date’ event in Woodend. A lively author panel and audience Q&A where we’ll unpack the myths, have a few laughs, and celebrate all things wonderful about women in later life. More details soon.

Bastille day Concert with the LaLaLa Chorale
On the evening of Saturday 26th JulyI will be singing in a Bastille Day concert with Melbourne’s French choir, the La La La Chorale. More details soon. All welcome.

Epistolary writing workshop, Cheltenham Library
On June 2nd I will be running a workshop for Kingston Libraries in Cheltenham from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm: Signed, Sealed, Delivered: the gentle art of letter writing. More info soon.

A night of readings at the Bard’s Apothecary
On May 24th I will join a group of writers including Tim Baker, Nam Le, Gig Ryan, Bella Li and Sally Breen at an evening of readings organised by the APWT (Asian Pacific Writers and Translators) group. APWT@BardsApothecary in Melbourne’s CBD is a free event, but donations will be welcome. The address is 7/24 Crossley St Melbourne, and the event kicks off at 7pm. All welcome!

Writing Compelling True Stories: Sydney workshop
We are living in the age of reality hunger. The reading public has an insatiable appetite for well-crafted true stories. This full-day workshop I’m running in Sydney on May 17th will introduce you to some of the essential skills required to write publishable works of creative non-fiction. Hosted by Writing NSW, the workshop runs from 10 am to 4 pm at Callan Park, Lilyfield.

On Tuesday February 25th I will be interviewing award-winning journalist Louise Milligan about her new book 'Pheasant's Nest' at the Sam Merrifield Library in Moonee Ponds. Starts 7 pm.

In Conversation with Markus Zusak for Readings
On Wednesday September 11th I will be in conversation with bestselling author Markus Zusak at the Cinema Nova in Carlton. We’ll be talking about his new memoir ‘Three Wold Dogs and the Truth’.

Hosting Wheeler Centre panel
On Thursday 22nd August I will be hosting a panel discussion for the Wheeler Centre - from page to stage - Helen Garner’s novel ‘The Children’s Bach’ has been adapted into an opera. Guests incloude Helen Garner, librettist Glenn Perry and composer Andrew Schultz. All welcome, bookings advised.

Hosting Pinchgut Opera Event at the SLV
On the evening of Tuesday March 21st I will be hosting an evening of performance and conversation at the State Library of Victoria involving Pinchgut Opera.
